Danish Ann Petersen recently sang Isolde at Welsh National Opera with Ben Heppner as Tristan, Kaiserin/Frau ohne Schatten in Copenhagen, Wagner Concert at Lyon Opera House and Isolde at Danish National Opera, Freia/Das Rheingold at ROH Covent Garden London with A. Pappano in September 2012 and Senta/Der Fliegende Holländer with Noseda at Teatro Regio di Torino in October 2012.
Future engagements include Elsa/Lohengrin at La Scala di Milano with Barenboim, Wagner Galas in 2013 in Baden-Baden with Thielemann (Isolde, Lohengrin), in Montecarlo (Sieglinde/Walküre and Isolde concertante), in Copenhagen with K. Petrenko and in Helsinki with Torsten Kerl; Elisabeth/Tannhäuser in Copenhagen in 2013, Senta/Der Fliegende Holländer in Orange in France in Summer of 2013, Otello in Copenhagen in 2013, Senta/Der Fliegende Holländer in Copenhagen, Marietta/Die Tote Stadt at Dallas Opera… and much more…
Mrs. Petersen will also sing R. Strauss Vier Letzte Lieder with Ashley Fischer in Copenhagen and with Duisburg Filharmonie.
In 1999 Ann Petersen made her stage debut as the First Lady in Zauberflöte at the Royal Danish Opera, Copenhagen. Engagements followed at the National Opera in Aarhus, Denmark which included Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Mrs. Ingeborg in Drot og Marsk by the Danish composer Peter Heise and Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte.
In 2001/2002 Ann Petersen received guest engagements to sing Donna Anna in Osnabrück and Elisabeth/Tannhäuser in Wiesbaden.
In 2001-2004 Ann Petersen was a principal in the ensemble at the Graz Opera singing Tatjana/Eugene Onegin, Governess/Turn of the Screw, Rosalinde/Die Fledermaus, Ellen Orford/Peter Grimes, Arminda/La finta giardiniera and Elisabetta/Don Carlo, all under the direction of Philippe Jordan. In 2003 Ann Petersen sang Freia/Das Rheingold at the New Opera in Esbjerg and Tatjana in Aarhus, Denmark.
In 2004/05 season she returned to the Graz Opera as Desdemona/Otello, her first Leonore/Fidelio and The Marschallin/Rosenkavalier, continuing with that role in Copenhagen. In 2005/06 she sang Copenhagen singing Liù/Turandot, Helmwige/Walküre and The Governess/Turn Of The Screw in Copenhagen as well as Desdemona in Braunschweig.
Highlights in 2007 were Freia/Rheingold in Strasbourg and Elsa/Lohengrin, directed by Peter Konwitschny, at the Royal Danish Opera, where she received a prize of honor.
In 2008, among others, Petersen sang The Marschallin/Der Rosenkavalier at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen and Elsa in Cologne.
In 2009 she sang again Marschallin in Graz and made her debut as Ariadne/Ariadne auf Naxos in the Robert Carson production in Copenhagen. As a recognition of this role she was in 2010 awarded the prestigious price in Denmark as best singer, the Reumert Prize.
In 2010 she sang Freia/Das Rheingold at the Bastille Opera in Paris together with Philippe Jordan, Marietta/Die Tote Stadt with Danish National Opera, Leonore in Beethoven's Leonore at Komische Oper Berlin. The year after Ann performed Isolde in Lyon with K. Petrenko, Elsa/Lohengrin at Colón de Buenos Aires and Concert in Montpellier with R. Strauss Arias and Orchesterlieder.
Her appearances as a concert singer include among others, Beethovens 9th, Verdi's Requiem, Dvorak's Stabat Mater, Mendelssohn's Lobgesang, Les Béatitudes by César Franc. She has appeared on CD-recordings and performances of Beethoven's Christus am Ölberge and Strauss' Four Last Songs at the Graz Opera in Odense and in Musikverein in Vienna under the direction of Klaus Peter Flor.
